California High School Exit Exam Update!
To assist students in passing the CAHSEE, OHS continually offers CAHSEE Review classes during the school day and after school. If your son/daughter is not currently signed up or is not attending his/her CAHSEE Review class, please encourage him/her to do so. You may also contact his/her counselor to request placement in a class.

OHS will provide the support necessary to assist your son/daughter in passing the exam. Seniors will have a total of five opportunities this school year to take the CAHSEE.

Pursuant to California Education Code 37254, pupils, including English Learners, who have not passed one or both parts of the CAHSEE by the end of grade 12, are entitled to receive intensive instruction and services for up to two consecutive academic years after completion of grade 12 or until they pass both parts of the CAHSEE, whichever comes first.

New! Cyber Bullying Educ. Code

Effective January 1, 2009, a new law, Assembly Bill (AB 86), resulted in the addition of a new Education Code 48900 ( r ). The new code was made available to school districts throughout the State of California to directly address bullying and cyber bullying.

“AB 86 specifies that bullying means one or more acts by a pupil or group of pupils directed against another pupil that constitutes sexual harassment, hate violence, or severe or pervasive intentional harassment, threats, or intimidation that is disruptive, causes disorder, and invades the rights of others by creating an intimidating or hostile educational environment, and includes acts that are committed personally or by means of an electronic act.”

This bill gives school officials grounds to suspend a pupil or recommend a pupil for expulsion for bullying, including but not limited to bullying by an electronic act.

An electronic act includes but is not limited to text messages, email, web postings, videos, videos sent from one phone to another and MySpace postings.
